Kïkeng Centre for Sustainable Development (KCSD)

Ki’Keng Center for Sustainable Development (KCSD) is a Non Profit Organization dedicated to fostering a sustainable future for the rural regions of Cameroon. Founded in 2014 by a team of concerned academics, community elders, and rural development practitioners, KCSD formally acquired legal status in Cameroon in 2024. The center aims to preserve and promote traditional and indigenous knowledge, culture, and sustainable livelihoods for the indigenous people of cameroon

With over 250 ethnic groups, Cameroon is home to a rich tapestry of traditional knowledge. However, many of these ways of life are rapidly disappearing due to modernization and globalization. KCSD, in collaboration with community members, elders, and leaders, aims to document, gather stories, and share these invaluable traditions with the younger generation.

Traditional Knowledge Sharing

We facilitate the intergenerational transfer of knowledge through storytelling, workshops, and community-led initiatives. Our goal is to ensure that traditional practices and ways of life are not lost, but rather adapted and applied to modern challenges.

Language & Cultural Preservation

We support community-led efforts to preserve traditional arts, crafts, music, and dance. By celebrating and showcasing these cultural expressions, we aim to foster pride and identity among community members

Traditional Food and Livelihoods

We work with communities to revive traditional food systems and sustainable livelihood practices. This includes promoting the cultivation and consumption of indigenous crops, as well as supporting traditional artisanal activities.

Sustainable Landscape Management

We collaborate with communities to develop and implement sustainable land use plans that balance the needs of people and the environment. This includes supporting community-based natural resource management and promoting agroecological practices.
